The MPAA ratings system is far from an exact science. Ratings amount to censorship; that raters are probably subject to the whims of studio pressure; and, ultimately, that the ratings board is completely unaccountable for its actions. More than any year in recent memory, 2007 demonstrated that these assertions are true.
